Located 30 Km from the Atlantic Ocean, on the Loire River, Nantes has given up its most important harbor activities to the city of St-Nazaire, better situated to accommodate modern ships of this coming millenium. The cities of Nantes and St-Nazaire have decided to join their destiny, to become a significant European metropolis. St-Nazaire at the estuary of the Loire River is the home of numerous industries around its port. |
Our potential of students who could be interested coming to Australia is one of the highest for the French sector.
Indeed the Nantes population is over 3 million people, with up to 35,000 students for Nantes Academy.

Moreover, Nantes is surrounded by two other major Academies, Vannes to the West (8,000 students population), Rennes to the North (30,000 students population) and Angers to the East (20,000 students population). These are less than 2 hours drive from our office. Keeping in mind we are the only organism specialised in promoting Study Australian for these 93,000 students population, to which we could add student from Brest and La Rochelle which would gives us over 100,000 student population to be informed about Study in Australia. |
By Train (TGV, the French speed train), Nantes and Rennes (over 400 km far) are less than 3 hours from Central Paris, this gives us the ability to go to the Australian Embassy in Paris quite easily for proceeding student visas, making appointment with officials, or participating to official venues at the Embassy.
After studying in Australia (Elicos + MEL) our Education Officer had been working with AEI-Paris team, translating from English to French, brochures and factsheets on different sectors of the Australian Education system, English Language, High School or University. He has also been involved in the setting up of the 1999 french Edutour to Australia.
Thus he had worked at the Australian Embassy in Paris during two years (Public Affairs and Visitors Department), in cooperation with the media Officer and the Cultural Attaché.
Our knowledge of the French Exhibition system results from our participation with Austrade-AEI-Paris/DFAT in the main education fairs held in Paris for the last 3 years:

Cultural activities to promote our organism is our main communication tool, giving a very postive image to the western french public.
As Culture is very strong in France we thought using our contacts with Australian authorities and Australian artists would be a good medium in giving quickly a good image of seriousness and enlarging our local network for a long term.
For instance, we have been for the second time an Official partners to the International Jazz Festival “Les Rendez-vous de l’Erdre” held in Nantes the last week-end of August.
